    PSYCHO-SOCIAL FACTORS AS DETERMINANTS OF FEMALE STUDENTS’ ASSERTIVE BEHAVIOR IN EDO DUGUNA SECONDARY SCHOOL, WOLAITA ZONE, ETHIOPIA

    The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of psycho-social factors that affect female students‘ assertive behavior in Edo Duguna secondary school. The design of the study was descrptive and predictive correlational design.Totally 290 students were participated in this study that selected through purposive sampling technique. Three types of questionnaire including assertiveness scale, psychological and social factors scale were applied. Descriptive and Inferential statistics (Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression analysis) were used to analyze the data. The mean and standard deviation results showed that, female students as demonstrated low level of assertive behavior. The result from multiple linear regression analysis showed that, from psychological factors self-confidence as stated statistically most significant predictor of assertive behavior of female students, whereas from social factors culture stated statistically most significant predictor of assertive behavior of female students. Edo Duguna Secondary School teachers should improve female student‘s assertiveness by encouraging them while they are teaching.
