    Importance of Labour Union for Improving Labour Productivity in Construction Projects; in Ethiopia Case of Omo Kuraz Sugar Factor

    Construction sector need high involvement of labour workers. Fulfilling sufficient amount of qualified labour workers in appropriate time is very important for the efficiency of the sector. In other side, keeping the right of labour workers in over all respect is very important. To familiarize both the demand of labour workers in construction sector and assure the right and responsibility of labour workers, collecting labour workers in organization is one of the ways. Its main objective is assessing importance of labour workers union in improving labour productivity and completion of construction projects with in specific cost, time and quality. The study was conducted by using mainly quantitative method supplemented by qualitative study method. The research design is based on a purposive sampling selection process in terms of which a representative sample of stakeholders/participants in the construction process will be surveyed. Interviews, questioners and observations are data collection tools of this research. The data were also cleaned and checked for completeness and exported to SPSS 16.0 soft ware for analysis. As the finding show around 92.7% of the projects have no first aid clinic. Only 17.1% of the workers wear PPE. As stated in this finding, only 24.4% of workers have taken qualification measurement during employment. In case of work place condition only 9.8% of workers got training during or before working time, only 7.3%of the total projects covered in research area are got workers near project site so that there is high loss of time in mobilizing and employing. Finally the research states, all mentioned problems highly affect construction projects. Lack of qualification measurement, lack of training, unsafe working condition, time loss on mobilization of workers are major problems observed on the research which can highly affect construction projects cost, quality and time. Finally the research states that labour workers union are important on improving efficiency of construction projects so that, employers, labour workers and all concerning bodies Encouragement and support of formation of union are needed. This research contribution is mainly on identify the use of labour workers union in keeping quality, minimizing cost ,and completing project with specific time in building construction projects
