Abstract
Thesis was presents the design of optimal temperature controller for egg incubator system using
model predictive control. Egg incubator is the technology which play important role in the modern
agricultural practice by providing temperature at optimal level. The mathematical model of an egg
incubator developed in this thesis was using the laws of conservation of heat and mass. Linear
Quadratic Regulator (LQR) algorithm used to design the model predictive control (MPC) to
control egg incubator system that was utilized explicit process model to predict the future response
of an egg incubator system. At each control interval, an MPC procedure attempts to optimize
future temperature of egg incubator system behavior was computed the sequence of future
manipulated variable adjustments. The basic MPC controller for egg incubator system could be
designed with proper limit on the prediction horizon and model length. And also in this thesis the
prediction horizon has to be kept sufficiently larger than control horizon. The MATLABTM
software have been used to assess and simulate the overall behavior of the optimal temperature
control of egg incubator system parameters. The simulation result shows that the temperature at
the optimal thermal factors are achieved when egg temperature remains in the range between 36 -
38°C throughout the incubation period when using an egg incubator. Finally the thesis was
completed by simulation result, conclusion and recommendation.
